19. If you could choose an area for further professional development, what would you choose?
What You Need to Know
The interviewer wants to know that you are interested in professional growth and development within your trade. This shows the interviewer that you are a go-getter with goals and plans to achieve them. Think of areas where you could potentially grow in your lineman career. What further education will you need to get there?
Many supervisors will suggest taking courses in safety, leadership or even upgrading some electrical coursework. Show the interviewer that you have a keen interest in bettering yourself. If you are currently taking any professional development course, this is a great time to refer to that as well.

Answer Example
"I believe that professional development is important for everyone. Currently, I am upgrading my First Aid and CPR courses, which I do every two years. However, if I could choose one particular area for professional development, I would take additional coursework in underground wiring. I would take additional coursework in underground wiring to improve my skills and knowledge of electrical distribution systems. I hope this could lead to more job opportunities and help me and my crew stay safe by learning about potential hazards and proper safety measures."
