"My greatest mentor and biggest influence is my grandfather. He is a retired veterinarian who practiced large-animal medicine in a rural area in Missouri for his entire career. Everyone in town knew him and trusted him with their animals. He was kind, empathetic, and very rational at the same time. He helped guide me and influence me through the consistency of his behavior. Growing up, I spent many summers helping him in the clinic, greeting people, organizing supplies, and even going on several on-site calls with him. Most of all, I learned about empathy and exceptional work ethic, two components I will bring to my practice once I am a veterinarian."
