"There are so many benefits to volunteering! I believe it's important to spend time serving others while attending school and after I graduate from the veterinary medicine program. Helping others is in my nature. My mother often volunteered her time to local causes and was an active community member. She raised me to be the same. I have volunteered 5 hours per week for the past three years at our local animal shelter. If accepted to Mizzou, I will seek similar opportunities in the Columbia area and balance giving back with my diligent studies. In fulfilling my duty to serve others, I will also learn and gain new experiences that will complement my academic studies. I appreciate that the MU College of Veterinary Medicine places a significant focus on serving by safeguarding Missouri's animal agriculture and public health. Rest assured, if accepted, I will be an active contributor to these efforts."
