Think back to the most significant contributors to the field of animal medicine. Consider the people who have a story that resonates with you. Think about what they overcome, discovered, created, or invented, and why you admire their work. Consider how you can relate to their approach to research or animal treatment and care.
Be prepared to give an overview of why you would like to meet this person. Perhaps you have an interesting question you would ask this individual if you had the chance to speak with them. When you respond, let your enthusiasm and creative thinking shine. Show the admissions team that you have a genuine interest in the history of veterinary medicine and an appreciation for those who marked the way for you in your pursuit of practicing veterinary medicine.

"I would choose to meet Dr. Buster Lloyd-Jones. He was a veterinarian during WWII who purchased an estate to house animals displaced by the war. I find this an admirable act and comparable to early rescue work. I would love to ask him what motivated his decision to take in all of these animals. In addition, Dr. Buster Lloyd-Jones is a great example of the need for veterinarians to adapt quickly. He began practicing alternative medicine during the war when traditional medications were scarce. Although I do not plan to practice alternative medicine, I admire the fact that he was able to quickly adapt and find other ways to attempt to treat ill animals when resources were lacking."
