By understanding your strongest areas of interest, the Admissions Committee at the University of Missouri will get to know you better and gain a glimpse into what motivates you in your pursuit of a career in veterinary medicine. The way you respond will also give the admissions team an idea of which coursework you will enjoy the most and which area of study you might find challenging.
Begin by discussing an area of veterinary medicine that hasn't significantly captured your interest. Be sure to avoid speaking negatively about any one area of medicine. Keep an open mind and show your willingness to learn and expand your interests while attending MU College of Veterinary Medicine.
Then, talk about where your strongest interests currently are in veterinary medicine and why. By first discussing your least favorite area of veterinary medicine, you can close your response on a more positive note - discussing what captures your interest the most.

"The area of veterinary medicine I find the least interest in so far is Laboratory Animal Medicine. I have not excelled in this area of bio-science; however, I have hired a tutor to ensure my grades remain above average regardless of my natural interest. At this point in my studies, I am most interested in Emergency and Critical Care as I have always enjoyed working at a swift pace and under a bit of pressure. Also, most of my volunteer experience has been around emergency animal issues. I look forward to expanding my interests as I complete this veterinary medicine program."
