QUESTION 14 OF 30

How would you react if you discovered a classmate cheating?

This challenging question is meant to reveal how you deal with situations around ethics. The Admissions Committee at the University of Missouri is looking for evidence that you have the strong mind and personal character required to be a trusted medical professional.

Being a trusted medical professional may sometimes mean making uncomfortable decisions. Show the Admissions Committee that you value honesty above all else and that you would react to cheating in a way that shows leadership and integrity.

If you have found yourself in a situation like this, you can draw on this example when you respond by telling a brief story. Of course, be careful not to name anyone outright. Instead, focus on the way you reacted and helped resolve the situation.

"An honorable person will do what is right even when nobody is looking. I wholeheartedly believe that veterinary medicine should have only honorable people who do the right thing and vow to do no harm. If I encountered a classmate cheating, I would discreetly tell the administration, professor, or a dean to ensure the situation was resolved quickly and with minimal disruption to others."
