When have you been asked to perform a function or complete a task that you had little or no experience in doing?
Working in the oil and gas sector, you will often be expected to wear many different hats. The interviewer would like to know about a time when you were asked to take on a task for which you knew very little. Have you ever had to take on a responsibility or a role that you felt was over your experience level? Talk to the interviewer about a time when you have dealt with this type of situation. Include the outcome, and what you learned.

As soon as I was qualified on board I was asked to train a new operator. I have never trained anyone before and I wanted to make sure I did a good job. I made sure I had all SOP for him to read before he even touched the board and could recite key factors in them. I then sat with the operator and walked him through every little detail. Then I let him operate the board as I sat over him making sure he didn't make a mistake.

Let the interviewer know so they can see how resourceful you are. Otherwise, your response is strong because it clearly details how hard you worked to make sure you properly trained your colleague.
