"I noticed that experience with XYZ system is listed as a preferred qualification for this role. I have not yet had a chance to work directly with that system. However, I have used ABC in the past and I learned through research that it is very similar to XYZ. Since applying for this role I have read articles and watched videos to better understand the similarities and gaps between the two systems. I enjoy working with new technology and I feel confident that I would be able to leverage my conceptual knowledge of the business processes XYZ system manages while I work to come up to speed on the specifics if hired."

"I currently work as a support specialist for a large enterprise. I handle escalations and I often resolve a series of problems with each ticket I am assigned. For example, a requestor may originally ask for assistance with one system and I may learn through the course of our communication that they also need assistance with unrelated systems or equipment. Given that all of my current customers are internal, it is normal for me to work to resolve any and all problems to the best of my ability.

In a consulting IT call center setting, I realize that clients are under service-level agreements that outline the types of support they can receive. I know that I will need to adjust my approach to review the agreements or service-related data available to me so that I can ensure I am providing support in line with those agreements. Additionally, I know it will be important to make note of any patterns that represent follow-up opportunities for the sales teams.
