If you are currently working in a similar role to the one you're interviewing, a solid strategy is to communicate your current salary, note any bonuses, and make note of your expectations if you feel your experience justifies a jump in compensation (e.g. you have been working in your current position for two years and you're interviewing for a role that represents a promotion).
