When you can understand how companies best make money in the video game industry, it's much easier to develop games that are responsive to that particular goal. The interviewer would like to see that you understand there are a variety of ways to earn money from video game development. If you have played any of the games created by Electronic Arts you should be able to identify which methods they rely on for making a profit, allowing you to bring that up in your discussion.
Some earning tactics are:
- Monthly subscriptions
- Ads and sponsorships
- Micro-transactions
- Branded merchandise

"I have played your most recent video game and saw that you use a blend of monthly subscriptions and micro-transactions to make a profit. This method is one that I appreciate the most because it gives people the option to play the basic version, or upgrade their experience should they prefer. I am also aware that branded merchandise is an excellent source of profit for popular video games, and Electronic Arts embraces that very well."

I learned about those different methods by playing a lot of games and studying how to monetize my game. The ones I know the most are to charge per copy, to make it free to play with microtransactions or to put ads in the game with a no-ad premium version.
