QUESTION 25 OF 30

What is your strategy for staying up to date with developments in the hardware engineering industry?

The information technology industry evolves at a rapid pace, with new developments occurring daily. Keeping up with these is a difficult task. However, as a computer hardware engineer, it is your responsibility to be on top of the most recent developments in the industry which could impact your work. You should have a strategy for keeping up with these developments and be able to describe it to the Cisco interviewer. Your answer should demonstrate how you do this effectively and efficiently so that it does not take too much of your time.

"It is challenging staying on top of new developments in the computer hardware industry. Component manufacturers and other technology companies announced breakthroughs or improvements in their products virtually every day. The way I stay ahead of these is to read several industry publications each week, subscribe to a few bloggers who are knowledgeable about the industry, summarize daily developments, stay close to my vendors to understand what they're working on, and identify new products in their pipeline. I would also take time to have conversations with my fellow Cisco computer hardware engineers to learn about developments they have become aware of."
