"I have had students that did not want to be in my session in the past. I like to start my sessions by connecting with my students. I ask them about their day and get a sense of where they are. I also make sure that I ask them many questions so that they are an active participant throughout the session. If I can think of a real-world or fun example for the session, I always use that to get their attention."
