As you know, surgical technologists are trained professionals who work alongside surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare providers in the operating room. They are responsible for preparing and maintaining the sterile field, passing instruments and supplies to the surgeon during the procedure, and assisting with patient care.

To handle the sights of surgery, surgical technologists undergo extensive training, including exposure to the operating room environment and surgical procedures. They are taught to maintain a calm and professional demeanor, focus on the task at hand, and prioritize patient safety. Additionally, some surgical technologists may use coping mechanisms such as deep breathing or visualization techniques to help manage any feelings of discomfort or stress during surgery.

This job is not for the weak of stomach! Talk to the hiring manager about your experience in the OR and how you can handle the sights of surgery. Describe any coping mechanisms you use (if any) and how this aspect of your job does not negatively affect you.
