Do you have a valid driver's license and a good driving record?

Most job announcements for SIU investigators list a valid driver's license and a good driving record as required in the job description. As an SIU investigator, you will be required to drive to meet claimants, witnesses, and suspects as part of your investigation. You will also need to go to court to testify in court proceedings and to meet with law enforcement during an investigation. The interviewer asks this question to ensure you meet their requirements and be safe and legal driving their company vehicle.

Focus on saying that you have a valid driver's license with a good driving record, tell them in what state, and the expiration date. If you do not have a license, explain to the interviewer that you understand it is part of the job requirement and describe where you are in the process of obtaining one.

If you do not have a valid driver's license or have a bad driving record, avoid saying you have a valid license and a clean driving record. The interviewer will want a copy of your license and driving record for their files and will not hire you if they discover you were dishonest in your interview.
