"The SCOM Management Group contains two different types of databases. One is an operational database, and the other is the data warehouse. The operational database contains the configuration information for SCOM as well as short-term data. The data warehouse holds all of the information collected by the MMA's and retains the data permanently. The data is then available for historical analysis as well as reporting by the monitoring tool."
