Recruiters and hiring managers often receive hundreds of applications per job. If you are lucky enough to land an interview, make some effort and research the opportunity. Think about how this job will help you in your career. It's essential for you to know not only what you have to offer them, but what they can do for you.
While your passion and excitement for the job are essential, it's always good to have some hard facts to back it up. For instance, saying 'I have heard great things about your company, and I know I would be a great fit for this job,' is not very specific. If you find recent news articles or press releases which talk about the company's accomplishments, mention how that impressed you.

Columbia College Chicago is well-known for its famous alumni. Erica Hubbard, a Chicago native and one of my favorite actors, went to this school. Kayne West's album "College Drop" was also inspired by Columbia College Chicago. One of my favorite albums of all time. But it was the career center that drew me in.
In my final years of undergrad, the career center was my safe haven. I am a first-generation student in college. My mother died during my sophomore year, and my financial resources were severely limited. My college journey became much easier once I discovered the career center.
I wish I had found it earlier in my college career. It would have saved me a lot of trouble. Because of my regret, I want to prevent students from experiencing the same fate. I want to help make a difference in the lives of students.
