Working in the trades, you will be working with customers often. Providing excellent customer service is what keeps companies in business, and the interviewer wants to hear that your definition of excellent customer service aligns with the company's values and expectations. Excellent customer service can mean greeting every customer with a smile and salutation, actively listening to their questions or concerns, being patient while taking the time to answer any questions they might have, or satisfactorily resolving any issues that might arise. Describe how you define excellent customer service.

"I define excellent customer service as tending to the customer's needs and concerns. When a customer has a question, I take the time to listen and answer their questions while being polite and patient. I believe excellent customer service starts with a smile, asking how their day is going, and thanking them for their business when the project is completed. If a customer has a complaint or concern, excellent customer service is doing everything I can to resolve the issue to the customer's satisfaction."
