The interviewer wants to know about your experience as a dental patient. You can discuss your experience with braces as a kid or maybe even a root canal! If you had a favorite dentist, explain why they were your favorite. Keep your answer simple and positive.

"I had braces as a teenager and remember that the orthodontist I saw was great at keeping my nerves at bay. He had a cool office and let me pick the color of my elastics, which I always liked. This particular dentist showed me the importance of great dental hygiene. I hope to have a similar bedside manner when I am a dentist."

If you have had significant dental work, explain what was done and your experience as a patient. If you have not had significant dental work, let the interviewers know and describe your experience as a patient getting your teeth cleaned.

"No, I have never had significant dental work, only teeth cleanings, and x-rays. I had a great dentist and hygienist growing up, and remember being excited to go to the dentist because they had a treasure chest that my brother and I could pick a prize from. Sometimes there was money, and other times there were toys. I want to incorporate something like that into my practice when I become a dentist."
