If you have a criminal record, you must disclose this. Assure the interviewer that you are able and willing to pass a complete background check.

As with any interview question, you want to focus on being completely honest in your response. As embarrassing as it may be, you need to let the interviewer know that now if you have a criminal background. If you do not have a criminal history, assure the interviewer that you will have no problem passing the background check.
