"Working in the lab, it is easy to get tunnel vision and only focus on what effects my direct job. To keep from doing this, I love the fact that my current organization has a wonderful intranet page that discusses the events and changes happening around the organization and I take time each week to educate myself there. As well, our CEO sends out monthly email updates and while a lot of people simply delete that email, I take the time to read it and click on all of the links. Last year, I learned of a change to our patient check-in procedures that would ultimately lead to shorter wait times around the facility. Without someone in our department seeing this, we may not have known this until were were noticing less patients in our waiting area which could have caused questions to arise."
