"Fortunately, no. I have been very conscious of the changes and moves I made in my career. However, I came pretty close once. An old supervisor left our company to start their own business, and about a year later, was pretty aggressive in trying to recruit me. They offered me quite a substantial sum over what I was salaried at the time. It was pretty tempting, and I respected them and interviewed them a couple of times. But, ultimately, I gave them a hard pass. It would have steered my career in a totally different direction, and, well, my career goals aren't solely driven by money, and that's all this position really had to offer my career."

This offers insight into where your career goals didn't unfold as you expected, as well as your perspective on the times things just didn't go according to plan. It could prove you an asset, depending on your EQ and how well you problem-solved. Or it could raise a red flag, depending on how egregious the error was or if your path indicates no clear plan or direction for your career.

Discuss any positions that you have held that were not a fit. Sometimes an opportunity presents itself that you haven't considered. Maybe a company you worked for offered you a promotion into an alternate career path. Even if, in the end, you chose to reroute and get back on course, discuss what you learned from the experience and how it helped your career path in ways you hadn't anticipated. Break down the situation and what decision-making influenced your detour. Be sure to end your answer on a positive note, discussing how you bounced back from the misstep, the skills you picked up along the way, and what you learned from the experience.
