Remaining up-to-date on new medication is greatly important to me. To make sure I am well-informed, I subscribe to a variety of trade publications and newsletters such as APHA Pharmacy today, ASHP newsletters, and the Florida department of health updates and I receive emails daily from these sites. I find the information to be fresh and valuable. In my spare time, I visit the PubMed site to check out the latest literature and trending articles. I sometimes also use the Merk Manual to also check out the latest news and refresh my memory with certain topics and I also use it to test my knowledge with their case-based questions and quizzes. Finally, I believe continuing education isn't just a requirement, but an opportunity to ensure any knowledge gaps are filled, including in regard to emerging treatment options. And Although I am not currently working in an inpatient setting, last year I completed a 25-hour review course in Critical Care Pharmacy that was offered by ASHP. I also obtained my pharmacogenomics certification through RXGenomix back in December of 2019.
