"I know that many grocery shoppers don't want to be hassled while they're shopping, so I usually greet customers with a friendly 'hello' but then give them space unless they have a question. If a customer interrupts me with a question in the middle of a task, like stocking shelves or cleaning up a department, I always stop what I'm doing and make sure they can find what they're looking for before going back to my task."
