It's one thing to go the extra mile by supporting your team's efforts by occasionally supporting one of your coworkers. But it's an entirely different issue when the needs of the one thwart the whole team's efforts. Show your willingness to go above and beyond in supporting the big picture goals by picking up the slack when needed, but make sure you're not inheriting the work of a slacker. Allowing someone to take advantage of you and distract you from your other priorities defeats the team's efforts.
