The interviewer wants to know how you handle your work with diligence and accuracy. Touch on your organization skills and your methodology or approach to project management, the level of your attention to detail, and the standard you set for your work.
How you answer this question will give the interviewer insight into your self-awareness and how you identify your self-assessment and growth opportunities. An interviewer is always evaluating the consistency of your answers. From how you perceive yourself to how others perceive you, from inconsistencies in your resume's formatting and typeset to how consistent your body language is with the words you communicate. If you answered one question one way and a similar question differently, this will clue them into a lack of attention to detail. Keep your answers consistent.

"My co-workers would describe my attention to detail as very strong. I can very easily point out spelling discrepancies in communication and will notice the small things. I think big-picture but have always had a knack for details."

"My attention to detail was a point of conversation in my last performance review. My manager was very pleased with the level of detail that I put into a large project recently. I put a lot of pride into my work, and it shows in everything I do."

My coworkers would describe my attention to detail as very strong. After one of our weekly meetings during my research assistant position, my professor asked me to stay on the video call to assist him with a script he was working on. Although he is more knowledgeable and experienced in python, I noticed he had incorrectly written some lines and told him. This made his life easier so that he didn't have to debug and spend time figuring out what went wrong.

Good! I like this example because it draws on your experience in engineering and shows that your attention to detail helps prevent or remediate errors, thereby saving time in the end.
