Do you prefer to work in a team-based position or individually?

The interviewer wants to know in which situation you are the happiest and most productive. Talk to the interviewer about your preference for teamwork or working individually. Be sure to avoid pigeonholing yourself into one particular scenario (i.e., I only like to work by myself). You may work well without needing much management or direction, or perhaps you are better driven in a collaborative and team-led environment. Either way, be honest with the interviewer about your preferences without leaning negatively toward one preference over the other.

"I always give my best, whether I am doing an independent project or working in a team environment. I enjoy the camaraderie of working in a team, but I can also be successful working autonomously."

"I have found, in the past, that I work well in an individually driven environment; however, I can certainly be productive in a team-based setting. Both environments have positive aspects. It just depends on the job I am doing as to which I prefer."

You can lean slightly toward one preference but highlight your ability to work in either environment. The job you are interviewing for will help you to formulate your response. If you are interviewing for a nursing position, you want to highlight that you prefer a team-based approach. If the job requires you to work autonomously, lean more towards working individually as your preference.
