Many structural engineering firms are transitioning away from employing dedicated teams of structural drafters and CAD technicians. They're preferring to rely more on the engineers to perform their own drafting. Being able to efficiently handle drafting and detailing drawings is a valuable skill for a young engineer to have when they enter the workforce, especially if you are comfortable with BIM or 3D modeling.
