"In the past year, I have been taking psychology courses at the community college to gain a better understanding of the human mind while working towards my associate's degree. For the past six months, I have been riding along once a week with the police department's mental health assessment team. They go out when they receive a possible mental health call and assess the individual. If they are deemed a threat to themselves or others, they are taken to the hospital on a 5150 hold. I have gained invaluable experience from both my classes and the ride alongs."
