The interviewer wants to hear about your bad experiences along with the good. This interview question is not necessarily meant to highlight something you did wrong but rather to see how you react when you're part of a project that doesn't go as expected.

"My least effective marketing campaign was a social media hashtag campaign that initially flopped. The tagline wasn't catchy enough, and the follow-up email copy was too wordy. I have solid skills in data analysis, so I caught the issue early on. I worked with my team to change the campaign's course, and we re-executed it. Although the campaign's performance improved, we never gained the momentum we had hoped for. After that situation, I took additional coursework in social media campaigns and am much stronger in that area now."
When answering this question, give an overview of the campaign and describe the reason it was not effective. If possible, focus on the actions you took to make improvements. Be sure to express what you learned from the situation.
