The work of a civil servant can often be of a more solitary and analytic nature, but not always. Your interviewer is looking for assurances that you are adaptable and can switch from more solitary tasks to those with more of an interpersonal and cooperative nature. They want to make sure you can partner and collaborate. As they state, "People skilled in this area are team players. At all levels, it requires working collaboratively, sharing information and building supportive, trusting and professional relationships with colleagues and a wide range of people within and outside the Civil Service, whilst having the confidence to challenge assumptions. It's about being approachable, delivering objectives through an inclusive environment, welcoming challenge, however uncomfortable."
