What do you do if you are assigned a task that you are not familiar with?

The interviewer asks this question to determine what resources you use if you are unsure how a task should be completed. The interviewer wants to know that you are comfortable seeking assistance from your team when needed.

Tell the interviewer about the methods and resources you utilize when trying to complete a task with which you are unfamiliar. Talk about how you approach your coworkers or management team if you are unable to complete a task without assistance and how you ensure that you will be able to complete the task in the future.

"If I am unfamiliar with a task, I discuss it with one of my peers to determine if they have experience with the assignment. If a peer can assist me in completing the task, I take notes so that I can successfully perform the assignment in the future."
