In your opinion, why is laboratory safety and following standard laboratory practices so important?

The interviewer wants to know that you understand laboratory rules and the importance of safety while working in a laboratory. Think back to the safety training that you have completed as part of earning your degree, as well as any knowledge of standard laboratory safety that you have obtained through on-the-job experience. Talk about why safety is of such importance in the lab and why it is important to follow lab rules and procedures.

"I have learned a lot about laboratory safety and standard lab practices throughout my career as well as in college. I know that lab safety is important because making the smallest mistake can result in an injury or a chemical hazard. I have always worn proper personal protective equipment and followed proper disposal rules for chemicals. I know that not following standard lab practices can result in having to complete rework and it can invalidate testing. I always make safety a top priority and follow standard lab practices to the best of my ability."
