When starting a new position, you will often work with an existing department on a team that is already working together. Most times the members of those teams already know each other and how to best communicate with each other. When the interviewer asks this question, they want you to describe how you are going to establish trust with your new team members and begin a successful working relationship with the other members of your department. Explain how you would go about working with a team that already exists and has already established a healthy working relationship. Avoid cliche statements like "I work well with everyone" or "I am a likable person." Talk about how you would establish trust.
"When I begin working with a new team, I try to communicate openly with my new teammates and learn from them as much as I can. I keep in mind that they may perform work tasks differently than I was taught and that it can be an opportunity for me to learn a new way of completing a task. I am always very approachable and try my best to establish their trust over time through conversation and by giving them respect."
