Intent is another fundamental component of the Android OS. As an android developer, you will know this and be able to respond to this question quickly and accurately. You should use your best judgment regarding how much information to provide when answering this question. Some interviewers prefer a brief, high-level response, while others expect you to go into great detail. As the interview progresses, you should be able to determine the type of responses the interviewer prefers and use this to frame your answers.

"Intent is an object used to request a response or activity from other components within the Android application. Another use for intent is to initiate an activity, such as sending an SMS, displaying a map, or opening a file. If the intent is used to invoke components of the system, it is called implicit intent. Explicit intents invoke activity classes which are the compiled form of a .java file used to produce an .apk file."
