One's emotional intelligence, or emotional maturity, is one's ability to govern one's emotions rather than allowing one's emotions to dictate one's reactions, responses, demeanor, or attitude. Everyone handles the stress and disappointment of setbacks differently. Setbacks can feel exaggerated working in the medical field.
Share the emotional impact of your example and explain how you coped with it and governed those emotions. Demonstrate that you don't allow your emotions to set you back further than the setback itself. It's important to observe and recognize the situational setback for what it was, analyze it, learn from it, and take what you've learned from the setback to improve your performance by moving forward. When approaching any personal setbacks or failures this way, you turn them into your next success story. Every hard-learned lesson is a future success hard-gained.

"Experiencing a setback is always disappointing and can be very disheartening, especially when involving a project that I have put a lot of time and effort into. I understand that setbacks happen often, and to everyone - despite their level of expertise or years of experience. If I experience a major setback, I will take a few moments to internally debrief, get some fresh air if possible, or discuss what I could have done differently with a mentor. Then, I move on. Rather than dwell on my mistakes, I choose to learn from them."
