Once admitted to the school, you will be required to read several textbooks. The interviewers are curious if you read for pleasure and have the communication skills required to effectively discuss what you read. They want to learn more about your interests and drivers, and as a more fun perk, they are curious about what social skills you possess and if you might offer recommendations to strike up a conversation.

It doesn't matter what the topic or category is for the book you are reading as long as you are enthusiastic about it. However, it should exhibit an appropriate reading level for a college-bound student. Therefore, avoid volunteering juvenile fiction regardless of its pop-culture value or how fun it may be. Avoid volunteering books that were school assignments, as this could convey you don't prefer to read unless it is required. Also, avoid naming books that seem like you are just trying to impress them by telling them what they want to hear.

Ideally, you'll want to share a title that you are sincerely enthusiastic about, something with substance, something age-appropriate, and which offers insights into your personality and character. Remember, this question is less about the book itself and more about you as a person. Consider what the book you choose will say about you.
