1. What scholastic achievements are you most proud of on your pharmacist career journey?

What You Need to Know

Your admissions interviewers would like to know what you consider your greatest accomplishment and are trying to gain a stronger sense of where you excel, why you're proud of the example you provide, and how it fits into your career goals. Think of any accolades that you may have received along the way. Your answer may also reveal what motivates you to succeed. It is okay to brag a little bit when answering this question. There is nothing wrong with being proud of yourself and your accomplishments. Explain how this achievement serves as a milestone towards your goals.

What You Need to Know

Not only does this question test your desire to grow, but it assesses your self-awareness, your determination to succeed, and your emotional intelligence. Some may fear that revealing their weakness will make them look ill-equipped or small. But it's important to cast away such insecurities. Admitting to your weaknesses and viewing them as growth opportunities demonstrates greater strength than not admitting them. There's an old expression, 'No one can hold over you what you already own.' So own up to it and let them know how they can help you overcome this area you'd like to develop, personally or professionally. Share the action plan in place for improving this weakness, and ask how they would recommend improving upon your strategy. The road to self-improvement is never-ending, and you'll convince them of your determination to succeed by sharing your plan.

What You Need to Know

This question not only seeks to determine how well you navigate conversing about seemingly controversial topics, but it also aims to determine how much of your position is based on opinion versus fact. When advising patients on alternative medicine, you'll need to be fully versed in the complexities of drug interactions with supplements, stick to the facts, and present both sides for the sake of transparent impartiality.

Because dietary supplements are classified as foods and not regulated as prescription drugs are, especially concerning the efficacy, testing, or verifying marketing claims, the safety of your patients should come first, just as the facts should hold precedence over your opinions. Whether you are a proponent or opponent of supplements and alternative medicine, share your knowledge of the complexities of such issues and your understanding of how they can impact the care you provide.

While sharing how you stay up to date on all research developments, trending news, breakthroughs, social concerns, and more, make sure you read through the news pages on their website.

"MCPHS News is Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences' go-to source for all news related to the University. From inside the classroom to the broader health sciences community, we are your first stop for stories related to all things MCPHS."

In addition to any conversation this can generate, mention the medical journals you like to refer to. It's also not a bad idea to ask the sources your interviewers used to stay in touch on pharma-related current events. Asking this question in return can make for great dialogue, and you never know what you will learn!

If you're reading multiple things simultaneously, don't hold that back. Your admissions interviewers want to know why you are choosing them over another university with a similar program. Explain the considerations you took before sending your application to MCPHS University.

"I am now completing my second undergraduate degree in Exercise science after having my first degree in Biology. With Biology, I learned more about the human body and its composition, and how it functions. On the other hand, with exercise science, I learned more about the anatomy of the human body and muscle movements. I will join study groups to gain a broader perspective from others, and I have made arrangements for a part-time tutor if needed. For the strain that will result from uprooting myself, I have planned to join a couple of university clubs to get to know other students and make new friends, avoiding feelings of loneliness. I also plan to FaceTime my family every week to prevent myself from feeling homesick. The financial commitment to becoming a pharmacist is a reality that I have come to terms with. I have created a solid financial plan to pay back my loans, and I enlisted a financial advisor to help me create a student budget that I will adhere to closely. I feel well-prepared to cope with and address the immense workload and other expectations ahead of me as a pharmacy school student."
