To work for Vanderbilt University Medical Center, we require all candidates to pass a full criminal background check. Do you consent to a full background check?
The interviewer asks this question to see if you will move forward in the hiring process. If you answer that you do not consent to a full background check, the interviewer will feel that you are hiding something and will move on to another candidate.
"I have a clean criminal record and am happy to comply with any background check you require of me."
"I consent to a full background check but would like to disclose that I have a misdemeanor on my record from 15 years ago. I am happy to continue in the interview process and comply with your background checks should you allow for some exceptions."
Working in the healthcare industry means you are in contact with vulnerable people, children, pharmaceutical drugs, drug-related equipment, confidential information, and other areas of sensitivity. Assure the interviewer that you are able and willing to pass a complete background check. If you have a criminal record, you must disclose this.
