At Officeworks we have a very clear return policy. How would you handle a customer who was arguing with you about a potential return?

We aim to deliver our customers the very best products at everyday low prices with our Price Beat Guarantee. We understand that customers need to return purchases from us, and we want to make the returns process as simple and easy as possible. How would you talk to a customer who was upset about a return they wanted to make that didn't meet our return policy guidelines?

"If a customer came into the store and tried to return an unapproved item -- like software, prepaid business services, gift cards, or special orders -- I would be calm and patient with them and explain the company's reasoning for their policies. I think the policy is straightforward enough, and hopefully the customer would understand the issue with the return after some explanation. If things began to escalate, I would consult with my manager to see if I could offer the customer a small 'peace-offering,' such as a small merchandise card or discount offer."
