Officeworks Interview Questions

31 Officeworks Interview Questions
Question 1 of 31
At Officeworks we like to hire strong achievers. Give me an example of a time when you went above and beyond.
How to Answer
You'll be learning a lot from day 1 with our learning pathways for your first 30, 60, and 90 days, so we need to know that you're capable of going with the flow and absorbing a lot of new information. At Officeworks, we use stretch targets when we're setting our objectives, and we encourage our Team Members to be proactive in driving the creation of value in our business. Talk to the interviewer about any times you've embodied this spirit of high achieving at work, whether it was going out of your way for a customer or taking responsibility for a major project.

Answer Example
"I was recently cleaning up a section of the store where I currently work when a customer came into my section with three small kids who were all screaming and crying. He looked totally overwhelmed! I smiled and greeted him, then I asked if his kids might enjoy something to keep them occupied -- we keep coloring books and crayons in the break room for just this kind of situation. He looked so grateful and relieved, so I went and grabbed the coloring supplies, told my manager the situation, and sat on the floor with the kids for about fifteen minutes while the customer finished up his shopping. It was a small thing for me to do, but I know it made a huge impact on his day. That's what customer service really means to me: finding small opportunities to make big impacts."
Answer Example
"Just yesterday I had a customer make a purchase, and I noticed that she was struggling with her bags. She had a stroller, a couple of kids, and a lot of bags to carry. I offered to help her out to her car, and she gratefully accepted. It felt excellent to go above the call of duty that day."

Question 2 of 31
How do you handle situations that could cause you to be late or miss work?
Professional Answers Preview
How to Answer
Proper planning will get you far, but sometimes life happens, and you'll need a plan B. Think about some of the variables in your life that could affect your ability to arrive on time for work. Sick children, traffic, car breakdowns... the list goes on. It may not be possible for everything to work out so smoothly, getting your shift covered or still making it to work on time. Your interviewer is looking to see that you are proactive and that you can handle the stress of unexpected situations that can arise.

Answer Example
"I stay calm and composed when issues arise. My dad got rear ended one time when driving me to school. I texted my friend to see if she could tell my teacher what happened. I explained the situation to my teacher when I got to class. If this happened on my way to work, I would call ahead of time to ensure someone could cover my shift."
Answer Example
"I hope never to be late! When I started working at a restaurant at sixteen years old, we were taught the adage of 'if you're on time, you're late,' so I've worked to implement that into my life. I always try to arrive 15 minutes early, but there are unforeseen circumstances that can arise. I handle surprises using common sense and keeping courtesy to others top of mind."

Question 3 of 31
Are you interested in participating in or leading any of our in-store activities?
Professional Answers Preview
How to Answer
Officeworks is passionately committed to Australia and to our local communities. One way that we stay engaged with our customers is through our in-store Love To Learn classes on creative writing, drawing, painting, and calligraphy. Do you have any special talents that you would be interested in contributing to one of these in-store activities? Are you interested in being a participant?

Answer Example
"I'm a creative writer, so I'm definitely interested in learning more about the Love To Learn activities! I'm planning to attend the next creative writing class to see how the store approaches it; if I'm hired, I'd definitely be interested in leading or helping to organize one of the events!"
Answer Example
"One of the goals I've set for myself this year is to be more creatively-engaged, so I think the Love To Learn classes sound like a lot of fun. I don't have any special talents to contribute, but I'm excited in attending some of the classes, especially the painting and calligraphy activities. They sound like so much fun and like a great way to meet new people with similar interests!"

About Our Interview Questions

Our interview questions are created by writers, almost all of which, have a long history of recruiting and interviewing candidates. They do not necessarily have experience interviewing or working with companies, careers, or schools, in which they may write for on MockQuestions.com. We do, however, strive to match their background and expertise with the appropriate question sets found on our website.

Our careers, companies, industries, and schools may have duplicate interview questions and answers found elsewhere on our website. Specifically, our companies and our graduate school interviews. For these two, we use the industry in which we believe the company most well-represents and the graduate programs, as the basis for the interview questions and answers that generate for each company or school.

The intent of MockQuestions.com is for our users to build confidence for their job interview, by using our thousands of interview questions and answers as they practice and prepare for their interview. We believe, most of our visitors can become more likely to succeed in their job interview with hard-work and practice. We believe, the key to success is for our users to rehearse with our interview questions while using our answer examples as an idea generator for their own interview answers. We strongly want to discourage users from memorizing our answer examples. That is not the purpose of our website.
