"My schedule is very flexible. After working in law enforcement for the past ten years, I am well aware of the intense requirements of being a detective. To answer the last part of your question, I am available to work overtime, holidays, and weekends when duty calls. My family supports my career choice and understands when I am suddenly called away."
As you know, detectives do not necessarily have a set schedule and must be flexible every day. You will have little to no notice when being called to a crime scene, you will be contacted at all times of the day or night, and you will often work past your "scheduled shift" and on your "days off." Holidays and weekends all blend together as a detective, and overtime can be a common occurrence, depending on where you work. Let the interviewer know you understand this profession and are available to work when needed.
