"In college, my Spanish professor was one of my favorite professors. I had difficulty in the class initially because I was not good at memorization and could never quite remember the vocabulary and verb tenses. I couldn't read or speak Spanish for a while. One day, this professor asked me to stay after class and very directly asked me why I was struggling. When I told them I didn't know, they offered to meet with me once a week for lunch and speak Spanish, listen to Spanish music, and read books in Spanish the entire time. They knew I loved music and art, and it was their way of helping me relate more to the information being learned. The way this professor went out of their way to help me learn is what inspires me to be a great professor. They taught me the importance of being creative and unique when helping students learn."
