Every student encounters academic challenges. The interviewers want to know that you will handle these difficulties with as much emotional intelligence and poise as possible. This question also aims to assess your propensity to think outside of the box and how resourceful you are in your approach to problem-solving. Your answer could indicate if you are self-guided or more dependent on others to help you navigate such problems. This attests to your unique traits, personality, and learning style. Discuss your approach and how it has benefitted you in the past.

"When I encountered academic difficulty in the past, I recognized the issue early and approached my professor for additional information or study resources. With these resources, I will either increase the time spent reviewing the class material or engage another person to increase my understanding of the topic. For instance, during my biophysical chemistry class this year, I fell behind as we approached the subject of molecular interactions. To ensure my success, I hired a Department of Chemistry tutor. This approach was beneficial, and I gained a much clearer understanding of the subject, which helped my grade a great deal. Should I encounter difficulties while attending dental school, I will not hesitate to seek outside assistance."
