The interviewers are curious about your approach to this roadblock if you encounter it. They want to know if you are commpursuingto pursue this career path or if you'll call it quits with the first setback. They are also curious about how you would navigate this setback and what course of action you'd take to minimize the delays to your career. In other words, they want to assess how well you've thought this through and if you've explored all your options. Your answer to this question should also show the interviewers that you are interested in the healthcare field beyond your acceptance into their dental school this year.
Whether you'd take a gap year and get your studies underway so that you are ahead of your class when you're accepted, choose a different university, or start your education in a similar field of study which would be transferable to dentistry, the point is to exhibit you've thought it through and have a plan, and even a backup plan. Let them know one rejection won't slow you down. Whatever path you choose, you must show the interviewers you have confidence and drive.

"Should I not be accepted into dental school the first time, I plan to reapply the following year. I would take that year to upgrade any required courses and prepare an even stronger application. My life's goal is to become a dentist, and I certainly won't take one rejection as a final answer."

"I will continue to make myself the best applicant possible, be that through research opportunities in the dental field or additional pre-dental coursework to show you that I am not only worthy of being a dental student at your institution but incredibly dedicated as well."
