The Admissions Officer at Emerson College would like to understand what you envision for your career in the short term. The way you answer this question should provide the admissions team with insight into your goals as a Speech-Language Pathologist. Perhaps you'd like to work in a private clinic or a children's hospital. Take a few minutes to paint a picture of where you envision yourself one year after completing the Communications Disorders program.

"My passion is child speech and language disorders, and I have a specific interest in Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders. For that reason, one year after graduating from Emerson's Communications Disorders program, I envision myself working in a school for special needs children. Here, I could provide a range of treatments to support these patients, including teaching them to be mindful of their tongue and mouth muscles when they speak, drink, and eat. Or teaching them to say sounds more clearly. I can work with patients to change how they chew and swallow and even introduce and practice different breathing patterns."
