Having a self-development plan is incredibly important for any student and professional. The Admissions Officer wants to know your self-development plan and how attending the SLP program at Boston University will benefit that plan. If the school body and faculty are going to invest in you, they need to know that you also have a plan in place for investing in yourself.

Some ideas for self-development:

- Listening to an inspiring podcast or reading motivational books
- Attending personal development workshops or taking self-development courses
- Spending time volunteering for an organization that means something to you
- Engaging with insightful members of your community or learning from a mentor

"I agree that self-development is crucial for upward growth and continued achievement. I am committed to investing in myself, and some ways I do this is by attending personal development workshops and meeting with my mentor monthly. This summer, I plan to advance my learning by taking Spanish as a second language. I believe that multilingualism is a skill that will greatly benefit me as a Speech-Language Pathologist and help me to serve my patients better."
