"A couple of years ago, I had to talk to a colleague about a major hiccup in his work processes that were increasing the workload for the rest of the team. What made this a difficult conversation for me was that the colleague was a senior in our department, and I was relatively new. Ahead of the conversation, I got my ducks in a row by documenting the processes impacted by his actions. I decided that my conversation would be in a more informal setting at his workstation. I amicably approached him, as we had an excellent working relationship. At first, he was very taken aback by me approaching him, and I reiterated that the issue at hand was impacting many more team members. At the end of the conversation, he thanked me for bringing the issue to his attention. Although it took some time for the issue to be completely remedied due to forces of habit, in the end, it did get remedied."
