In many fields, people become compliant the longer they are in the field, and they tend not to stay abreast of developments in the field. However, Data Science is a relatively new and quickly developing industry, and Data Scientists must stay abreast of emerging technologies and methodologies. You should demonstrate your curiosity and efforts to stay up to date on developments in the industry. You also need to make sure you can discuss the technologies you mention if the interviewer asks you any follow-up questions.
