"I chose to pursue this career after being exposed to social work as a young child. My mother raised my brother and me as a single mother. Unfortunately, she was addicted to heroin, and we were taken away from her for two years. After working with a Substance Abuse Social Worker, my mother became clean, and we were reunited with her. After that experience, I knew I wanted to work in this field and help people like my mother."
