QUESTION 6 OF 20

Why Occupational Therapy and not Physical Therapy (PT)?

There are many similarities between Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists, and many people do not know the difference between the two careers. Show the interviewer that you have researched what Occupational Therapists do and have chosen this path for the skills you will learn, not because you couldn't get into Physical Therapy school. This is a good time to reference a personal connection you have to the practice of OT.

"While both OT and PT share some similarities, I am more attracted to OT since it focuses on mobility and functioning together. I like how OT focuses on fine motor skills and activities of daily living that have a direct impact on the patient's life. OTs also help patients adjust their environments to meet their needs in a way that PTs do not do. "
